How It Started

Jerry Meek and his father founded Desert Star in 1978 with a Skilsaw and two hundred dollars in total assets. They accepted the carpentry projects others overlooked and approached each one with integrity, craftsmanship, and a determination to exceed expectations. Their reputation was earned one satisfied client at a time.

As Desert Star grew, so did the complexity of its work. What began as a small carpentry business became one of Arizona’s most respected luxury custom home builders, creating residences with advanced systems, integrated technology, resort-level outdoor environments, and exceptional custom details.

As remarkable as the homes became, Jerry noticed something that never sat comfortably with him. When construction ended, homeowners were often left without a trusted partner who truly understood the homes they had invested years creating. These properties required people who understood their complexity, knew how their systems worked together, and could coordinate the specialists required to preserve them properly.

Rather than walk away after construction was complete, the Desert Star team continued helping many of its clients. They answered questions, coordinated repairs, recommended trusted trades, and solved problems because they felt a continuing responsibility for the homes they had built. Stewardship, they believed, should not end the day the keys were delivered.

That conviction became even clearer in 2001 during a conversation with a longtime client named Don. Looking around his home, he asked Jerry, “You built my house. You already know every system in it. Why aren’t I paying you to take care of it?”

Don believed Desert Star could provide something no traditional concierge company could match: construction-depth expertise rooted in firsthand knowledge of luxury homes. The idea resonated immediately because it was not about creating another business. It was about extending a relationship that already existed.

Although it took time to formalize the concept, the vision never changed. Desert Star Concierge was created to provide the same integrity, technical expertise, and commitment after construction that Desert Star Construction had always provided during construction.
